New Brunswick Automobile Dealers' Association President Bob Toner and Board Member Bill Johnson present a cheque for $16,120 to Special Olympic Athlete Andrew Williams, Randy Sears Chair Special Olympics New Brunswick, and Charles LeBlond, Board Member SONB. This $16,120 was the total of the donations raised in the 2009 campaign. This current year marks the 24th year of support for Special Olympics by the NBADA. NBADA hopes to surpass $20,000 by the end of their May/June Fundraising Campaign. Moncton Honda has been a member of the NBADA for 16 years and is proud to support this worthy cause.
 
Special Olympics New Brunswick Heading to Canada Games
 
Special Olympics is preparing to field a team of 42 athletes in six sports at the upcoming Canada Summer Games in London, Ontario. The national competition will take place July 13 - 17th and will feature more than 1400 athletes from ten provinces and two territories.
 
New Brunswick's team will consist of both seasoned veterans and athletes experiencing national competition for the first time. The Games are a critical part of the competition schedule for New Brunswick's Special Olympians.
 
"Our athletes have won the right to represent New Brunswick on the national stage through a series of regional and then provincial competitions" says New Brunswick's Chef d'Mission Roger Ryan of Oromocto. "We're optimistic when we return we'll be bringing home not only a series of best ever performances but newly minted members of Team Canada, New Brunswick Special Olympians who will then go on to represent Canada next summer at the International Special Olympians at the home of the ancient Olympics in Athens, Greece" continued Ryan.
 
New Brunswick athletes in London will compete in 5 and 10 pin bowling, athletics, swimming, soccer and softball. Send off for the athletes is July 11th at Crandall University in Moncton at 4pm.
